Test Sales of "Yakult" to Begin in Vancouver, Canada
Yakult Honsha Co., Ltd. (President, Sumiya Hori) has announced that test sales of its product, “Yakult,” will begin in Vancouver, Canada, starting in July.
With regard to operations in the Americas region, starting with entry into Brazil in 1968, the Yakult Group currently sells its product, “Yakult,” in the countries of Uruguay, Mexico, Argentina, and The United States. With the start of sales in Vancouver, Canada will become the sixth country entered in the Americas region, and the overall sales of Yakult around the world will be further expanded to 28 countries and regions.
Canada is a large potential market with a population of around 32 million persons, and Vancouver, which is located on the Pacific ocean, is its third largest city. Yakult U.S.A. currently sells products imported from Mexico in east and west coast US cities which are comparatively close to Vancouver, and it is through Yakult U.S.A. that test sales of “Yakult” will be undertaken in Asian supermarkets in the Vancouver area. For our company, this will be good opportunity for us to prepare for the future full-scale sale of “Yakult” in the Canadian market.
